It can carry a pistol or a rifle during a hike in California dismissed. I think it should be used as a weapon of survival emergency use. You can kill a few mistakes when you're hungry, but a 22 is useless for protection against bears and mountain lions. I have loaded about 45 minutes. I live outside California, where we still have the right to bear arms:-D
